4 Directions to Kirch Flat Campground
As I stated on the ‘Introduction’ page it takes roughly 3-4 hours of driving to get to Kirtch Flat Camground. There is a good visual map at the following web address: http://www.kingsriver.com/html/map.htm
For you GPS users, there are coordinates and directions posted below the follwing written directions.
And here are my written directions from various parts of the state:
FROM SAN FRANCISCO and EAST BAY:
580 east
I-5 south
Hwy 152 east towards Los Banos
Hwy 152 merges onto 99 south
99 south to 12th Ave exit
Left at first stop sign
Left onto 12th Ave (2nd stop sign)
Right on Hwy 41 (traffic light)
Take the Herndon Exit
Left on Herndon (grocery stores along here for any last minute stuff like Ice but they close by midnight).
Right on Academy.
Left on Belmont. See Note below for rest of the trip.
FROM THE SAN JOSE:
101 south
152 east
Hwy 152 merges onto 99 south
99 south to 12th Ave exit
Left at first stop sign
Left onto 12th Ave (2nd stop sign)
Right on Hwy 41 (traffic light)
Take the Herndon Exit.
Left on Herndon (grocery stores along here for any last minute stuff like Ice but they close by midnight).
Right on Academy.

FROM LOS ANGELES:
5 north
99 north
Clovis Ave exit north
Right on Belmont. See Note below for rest of the trip.
FROM SAN LUIS OBISPO:
101 north
46 east towards Fresno
41 east towards Fresno
exit Jensen Ave. and go east
Left on Academy.
Right on Belmont (do not take hwy 168). See Note below for rest of the trip.
NOTES: From the intersection of Academy and Belmont it is about 43 miles to Kirch Flat campground so, reset your trip odometer here. At about mile 33 there is a 90 degree bend to get over a bridge (dirt road if you go straight). There is a hydropower plant about 2 miles before the campground. The campground is on the right side of the road. The sign for the campground is on the left side. DRIVERS: Of the 43 miles @ 30 miles are very twisty so be courteous of those who get car sick

For those of you with routing GPSr equipment, the coordinates for Kirch Flat Campground are:
E308379 N4083622 UTM 11 S
36° 52′ 44.9″ N 119° 9′ 00.3″ W
And the newly discovered Camp 4 Campground:
E312089 N4081072 UTM 11 S
36° 51′ 24.8″ N 119° 6′ 28.3″ W
Be sure to have the correct map datum set (WGS84/NAD83). Hope to see you there!
